Forecast is good; picnic is a go! Meet across the park road from from Pond House, 1:30 pm. . If you haven’t yet paid $15 duqes or applied for scholarship you can do so at the picnic.

The DBSA Greater Hartford Chapter Annual Meeting and Picnic has been scheduled! All Supporting Members are invited to attend. We’ll meet at Elizabeth Park on the Hartford/West Hartford line at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2018. Rain date is the following Sunday, August 26, 2018. See: http://elizabethparkct.org/visit.html for directions.

This will be a relaxed, friendly event. We don’t have a lot of members, so it won’t be a crowd. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on, a snack to share, and a travel mug / cup, etc. I’ll bring a buffet table, paper towels and paper plates for all to use.

In addition to enjoying each others’ company and snacks we’ll introduce the Board of Directors and listen to the members’ comments and suggestions about how the chapter can best serve the community going forward.

You can become a supporting member in two ways:

  1. Donate $15 for a one-year membership
  2. Apply for a scholarship membership if you receive benefits from Supplemental Security Income, SNAP, or Medicaid (or you can describe a financial situation that makes it difficult to meet your basic needs)*

You don’t have to have paid for your membership ahead of time; you can pay the day of the meeting. Alternatively you can pay by check (made out to: DBSA Greater Hartrford) or cash to me or send a check to our Treasurer at:

Anne Marie Wellspeak
64 Laurel St.
Enfield, CT 06082
Looking forward to seeing you there,
Joanne Shortell
President, DBSA Greater Hartford Chapter
*Scholarship memberships are paid for by members who can afford a little extra and are limited in number. Preference for scholarship memberships will be given to people who give back by providing some volunteer service to the chapter or a support group meeting, such as facilitation, helping with room setup / cleanup, snacks, etc.
